New Orleans
Today, we are in Miami and our last chance at Internet access for some time.
We arrived in New Orleans on Friday afternoon and settled into our hotel in the Garden District.
It is a very small hotel that was once a home with about ten rooms. It is clearly old but fully restored with twelve foot ceilings and is only a block away from the St Charles street streetcar line.
A day pass on the streetcars is only $3.00 so we headed off - past Tulane and Loyola Universities,
huge old southern homes and the Audubon City Park and Zoo.
The streetcars date back to the 1900's but are fun to ride and are always full.
Sunday morning we went to Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and then to the Cafe du Monde for beignets (sugared donuts) and orange juice.
It is so popular there is a block long wait to get in. From there it was off to board the ship, Norwegian Star.
We settled into our small but comfy cabin. The balcony is big enough for a couple of chairs and a table.
A large sliding door provides access to the balcony so we have a huge view out the side of the ship.
The first part of our journey was travelling for several hours is down the Mississippi River and Delta.
It's dark by the time we get to the open ocean.
From Miami it is an eight day trip across the open Atlantic before we get to the Azores.
Next posting from the Azores if we can find a Mcdonalds, Srarbucks or an internet cafe!

On the Road (Boat) Again
Well tomorrow we begin another adventure
This time we are off to cruise the Baltic Sea - but first we have to get there.
That means a flight to New Orleans where we take a re positioning cruise to Miami, the Azores, Dover and finally Copenhagen where we begin the cruise proper!
Out internet access on the ship is limited bit we'll try to keep you updated as we travel along
